First Big Update

First Big Update.

Hello, this is a large update in progress with the game. It has the bare-bone skeletons of what it needs to be a playable stealth game now. It's one of my first real attempts at putting together a fully playable level with Unreal Engine, and blocking out a level.

I am designing the game based around tracking down a target, and killing them while they are moving between locations. They have two body-guards, as well as a few guards patrolling along the pathway, and a couple stationed at the target's destination.

Controls

WASD - Movement

F - Attack

Left Shift - Flash (A short-ranged teleport)

Left Ctrl - Toggle Crouch

Mouse - Look

Left and Right Click - Throw Rocks

Mechanics

The guards and bodyguards are too armored and strong to be able to kill, but your strikes do stun them for a short time when they land.

Grass is able to block the view of the guards spotting you, however if they already spotted you, and are chasing you they will run to where they last saw you in the grass and attempt to attack, before returning to their patrol.

Rocks are available to be used to distract guards, but again will ignore them if they have spotted you first.

Goals and Next Plans

My intentions for the player is for them to feel crafty with the usage of distractions and their abilities to stun and dart around in order to reach their target and take them down before they reach safety. I expect the player to figure out ways to quickly dart in and attack the target, and I plan to make it more difficult to do so over time.

At the moment, you are able to dart straight in and go directly for the attack, but if you miss, you risk getting immediately attacked instead. You are also able to use grassy areas near the path and wait for the Target to get close before moving in to attack, making it less likely to be spotted as you get close. You are easily able to get ahead of your target using smaller cave paths through the mountains between destinations. These caves lack any patrols, so you are able to move there and wait without worry of a guard encountering you... However, there is the rare chance that you can be spotted and chased into them.

Currently, the attacks from the guards are easy to slip around by moving to the sides, though it becomes more difficult to avoid if multiple guards are in pursuit. I'd like to keep the ability to juke around the attacks, but figuring out a way to have them lose track of the player more seemlessly is something I am going to work on as well.

From here the plan would be to polish things up, and possibly modify the map, currently it feels quite large for the pace of the patrolling guards and target.

That's everything for now, thank you!
Here's some more images of the map's current features and areas.
